The IET is due to release Amendment 2 of the IET Wiring Regulations BS7671:2018+A2: 2022 this year - it’s expected to be published on or around 28th March 2022. Unlike the First Amendment which came out in 2020 and only covered Electrical Vehicle charging points this amendment will be a complete re-issue of the whole book.

This 1-day course has been completely revised to align with the requirements of BS 7671:2018 Requirements for Electrical Installations – IET Wiring Regulations Eighteenth Edition BS 7671: 2018+A2:2022.

The 18th Edition of the IET Electrical Wiring Regulations is aimed at practicing electricians, electrical contractors and those who need to have a good working knowledge of electrical wiring. There are no formal entry requirements although relevant electrical experience would be an advantage.

Course Entry Requirements:

The 1-day update course is for those who have a good working knowledge of the latest version of BS7671 and are looking to update their knowledge further by understanding the changes that Amendment 2 will bring to the industry.

Key Changes to BS7671: 2018 +A2 2022

Significant changes include:

  • Requirement for Arc Fault Detection Devices (AFDDs) in some AC final circuits for installations in some types of higher risk residential buildings
  • Requirement for the fire safety design of buildings to be documented where specific conditions of external influence exist, such as protected escape routes and locations with risk of fire
  • Method for determining the requirement to provide overvoltage protection
  • Changes to identification, labels and notices, such as for consumer units, affecting how safety information is provided to the user of the electrical installation
  • New Part 8 contains a new chapter on Prosumer’s Low Voltage Electrical Installations.

This course provides an overview of the main changes to BS7671: 2018 and includes the updated requirements relating to Amendment 1:2020 and Amendment 2:2022.
